Coming in early 2020 one of the most important sites in American history, the place where almost half of all African captives arrived in the U.S., the IAAM will present the largely under told experiences and accomplishments of Americans of African descent.

When this project was begun in 2001, published information giving names of slaveholders was not readily available, and lists of the number of slaves they held were virtually non-existent. For slaves' names in early records, here's a good place to start.
