Some of my kin in early Caldwell County, TX were WORTHINGTONS. My GGGGrandmother was Dirinda HOLLEY b 1804 in SC. Her husbands name was Nathaniel PONDER b 1804 SC. Two of their daughters married Worthingtons. Before the Civil War the two families lived in Benton County, AL but by the 1850's the Worthingtons were in Caldwell County,TX. The 1870 census shows Dirinda Holley Ponder living with her daughter Mary Jane Worthington (widow of Thomas Worthington). However, after that Dirinda disappeared and is assumed dead. Her other daughter who married to a Worthington was Sarah who was married to Robert Worthington in 1852 (probably in Caldwell County. Sarah is listed as having had five husbands). If there is anyone doing research on the Ponders I would be more than happy to exchange information. Boice Burns, 14019 E. Cypress Forest Dr, Houston, TX 77070
