I am a descendent of Elizabeth (Betsy) Broome Steger HILL McBRIDE born abt 1812. She was first married to William T. Hill born abt 1808 who died before 1840 perhaps in Tennessee. They had 3 sons and 1 daughter. One of the sons was named Edward Peyton Hill born June 10 1833 , died January 16, 1916 and is buried in the Clear Fork Cemetery. She then married Hugh McBride on January 01, 1841 in Marshall County, Mississippi. She and Mr. McBride moved to Texas after 1857, perhaps first to Travis County, and then to Caldwell County. Her step-daughter Susan A. McBride Bowers, spouse of George T. Bowers, CSA, is buried in the Lockhart City Cemetery in Section B. I have been told that my great great great grandmother is buried in an unmarked grave at the Lockhart City Cemetery near Susan and George BOWERS. I have since located information that she may be buried in an unmarked grave south of the grave of Leonidas ROGAR (ROGAN), CSA. I believe Mr. Rogar(n) to be buried in Block D of the LCC. If anyone has any information on Elizabeth Broome Steger Hill McBride, please e-mail me at morrism@mastnet.net. Thank you for your help. Sincerely, Mrs. Pamela Hill Massingill

I am interested in locating BURDITT and JAMES ancestors in Caldwell County. Was at First Baptist Church Lockhart, Sunday. Became aware that some of my Burditt ancestors (pre-dominantly from Travis County) might also have connection in Travis County. Also noted the name Lenard James on the cornerstone of the church. I have James relatives, as well. The line that I am particularly interested in, is an African -American line. My great grandparents were Henry and Virginia Burditt (nee James), were married 1886, in Travis County.Have not clearly identified Henry's parents. He was from Garfield, Texas. Virginia's parents were John and Mary James (nee HILL), married c 1866, in Travis County. Any information is important. Ced
