My father's name was Charles A. BORDERS. My folks lived in Caldwell in 1912-1915 time period. My father was a telegrapher for the railroad there. I have a picture of a grade school class with my brother shown in the class. I'm wondering if there are any records of residents, school children, or church members that you could suggest might be available for me to search for. They moved there from Indiana, my home state. I would appreciate your input for records to explore.Thank you for your time. Elizabeth Borders Hill, Charlotte, NC

I am looking for Grandmother's name etc & any other family links in Caldwell Co. Horace (DeWitt??) GILLIAM "married a 'darkie woman' from Caldwell Co in Luling Texas & Gilliam Family never heard from him again". Horace & (?Sadie?)Commanche/mix? wife bore my father Francis DeWitt Gilliam Nov 10, 1917 in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Horace was a 'gold miner' & died probably before WW 2. There were 2(?) siblings, Orville & Aunt Larry. My father, Francis - Frank - Gill - lived between Oklahoma & Luling with his mother ??, attended Indian school ??, joined Marines in WW2 & was in Pacific War areas. His mother possibly died in Oklahoma Territory while he was in Korea or Japan. He divorced my mother in Luling apx 1951 & returned there shortly before his death in 1973; he may have remarried at that time??? I will be grateful for any info or leads. Georgia Gilliam

This query is for Caldwell County. Jesse SWEARINGEN was my great-great grandfather. I am trying to find the Civil War records of all eight of my Civil War era grandfathers. Jesse Swearingen was in Caldwell County during that time. Another cousin who dabbles in genealogy says he heard he was a "drover." Swearingen does not seem to have a Confederate record but may have been in the Texas State Troops, the sort of "national guard" of the time. Can you help? Thanks. John T. "Terry" Bozarth, 1014 Center St., Lockhart, TX 78644; 512-376-4651.
