Looking for Bennett MUSGRAVE/MUSGROVE, Lizzie the daughter married my Grgrandfather James McClain ELLEDGE, Jr. Musgraves are found in 1850 census of Caldwell Co., Texas. My Grgrandfather J.Mc.Elledge, Jr was mustered out in New Braunfels, Texas, in 1864. I think he must have met Lizzie, Elizabeth, and either married her there, or maybe in Seguin, Guadalupe Co. Elizabeth was 8 in 1850 (census), in 1864 she would have been 24, if they were married in 1864 and she and the baby died in childbirth. He then went to either Devine, Big Foot or Castroville and married Mathilda THOMPSON, because my Grandfather JMcE, III was born in Big Foot. Bennett was Lizzies, brother, and the parents I am supposing is Calvin, and Mariah from Tennessee (ref: 1850 Census), a coincidence could be J.Mc.E, Jr., joined the GAR at Whiteside, Tennessee. There is a Edward A. Thompson also in the 1850 census of Caldwell, and this is most likely a relative of Mathilda. Too many coincidences. On my Daddys' side of the family Moses HOWARD married Sarah A. WAGGONER in Caldwell County. Tudie

I am researching my grandfather, Clarence LANEY, born in Lockhart on Sept 15, 1876 to John William Laney and Rebecca ?. Clarence married Elfrieda HAMPE (unkn date or location) and settled in Lockhart and raised one child, Margaret Laney (b: Dec 16, 1914). Margaret was my mother. Clarence was a newspaper printer and worked for the New Braunfels paper and also the Lockhart Register. My g-grandfather, John William Laney was born in KY in 1832, and moved to Lockhart after 1860 (probably after the Civil War). He married Rebecca ? in 1874 and they had three children: Mattie O. Laney (b: 1874), Clarence Laney (b:Sept 15, 1976), and Arthur James Laney (b: 1879). John Laney was Postmaster for Lockhart from 1873 until 1885. Any information regarding any of these Laney's would be greatly appreciated. I will be more than happy to share my information with any other Laney researcher. Thank you, Bill Sanders, Spring, Texas, bsand10@earthlink.net
