I have been searching for my great grandfather brother, Lewis C. ROGERS and I thought I had finally located him in Caldwell County. However, there seem to have been two men with the same initials in Caldwell County. One was L.C. Rogers, the other went by the name Lewis Cass Rogers and was also known as Rev. Lewis Cass Rogers, I have no idea which one is which. The Lewis Case Rogers I am looking for was born in Arkansas about 1848. The last information I have on him is the land records where he sold his land in Cleveland County, AR, November, 1881. I would really appreciate any help you can give me with this puzzle. I would like any info. on this family. They moved to Crawford, McLennon Co, TX at some point, and Amos Fremont and Sarah Jane are buried there. Sarah Jane's parents moved there too. They were the first land owners there. There is a story about how this family in Harwood lived in a covered wagon until the indians burned them out. That would be in the 1840s. Amos Fremont's father, Amos Damon from IL came west with his son and family, and was killed by runaway horses near Gonzales. Would like to share information on both families. Thanks so much, Carol Smith; 3070 15th St.; Boulder, CO 80304-2614

James H. VICK, Lockhart. Have death certificate for James H. Vick, resident of Caldwell Co. who died in Austin in 1913 and is buried in the Vick plot in the Lockhart City Cemetery (without marker). Already buried there was his wife, Mary C. RICHARDSON, tombstone death date 7 June 1902 and their son, John Price Vick tombstone death date 1908. Recently I learned a grandson, K. J. Vick died 1986 and was buried there. Daughters of James H. Vick married into the WHITE, MILLS, and CHILDERS families, but have been unable to find any further trace of them. I am trying to locate any living descendant of James H. Vick. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Mary Edwena Vick, P.O. Box 923, New Waverly, TX, 409-295-4242.

James H. VICK and Mary C. RICHARDSON had eight living children. I have been able to locate only six of them; John Price Vick m. Nora Alice MARTIN, Cora m. R. W. White 1891, Effie m. W. J. MILLS 1903, Gertrude m. Ellie CHILDERS 1905 all in Caldwell Co. I have never been able to track any of these last three families on the census. Surely some of this family still lives in Caldwell Co. James H. Vick was a miller there but died in Breckenridge Hospital in Austin. There is no tombstone for him but his death certificate stated that he was taken to Lockhart for burial. Thank you for your attention to my problem. Mary Edwena Vick
