LIVING GREEN 32.9612359 -95.0493825 This was a Black community six miles southwest of Pittsburg and two miles south of New Mine Community. An acre of land was donated by Mr Ellison, a white man. This land was to be used for a school and church for the people. So the Living Green Baptist Church was organized in 1875. The church building was also used for a school. At one time there were 108 students in grades one through eight. In 1939, they realized the need for a larger church and school. The old building was torn down and a new building was erected about one mile from the original site on land that the community leaders purchased. The school was later consolidated with larger area schools.
