CAMP COUNTY - ROSE HILL CEMETERY Obituary of John Burnett John "Buddy" Rolland Burnett, of Pittsburg, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 in Longview at the age of 79. John was born January 1, 1937 in Sweetwater, Texas to Vilon Gerome Burnett and Winona Hutto Burnett. John played high school football in Sweetwater with the Sweetwater Mustangs. He was also a Golden Glove boxer in his youth. In February 1955 he joined the National Guard. After a short stint the the National Guard he transferred to the US Navy and served the remainder of his 3 year enlistment. After his military service ended John worked as a police officer, and in the oil and natural gas fields, as well as Paris School District. On November 5, 1970 he wed the love of his life, Jean Kincaid. Over the next 46 years the couple would laugh, love and raise a family. Buddy, as his family called him, had a warm personality and a terrific demeanor. He never met and stranger in his life, and could strike up a conversation with anyone. He was a dedicated family man, and always treated Kenny, Jeff, Danny, and Rocky as his own. John was also quite a jokester, and loved to cut up with and tease those he loved. He also had a panache for practical jokes. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 46 years, Jean Burnett; his 4 sons: Kenny Kincaid, Jeff Kincaid, Danny Kincaid, and Rocky Kincaid; 2 daughters: Kim Ernest and Mitzi Burnett; daughter-in-law Tobi Johnson; daughter-in-law Kari Kincaid; son-in-law Rodney Ernest; daughter-in-law Leslie Harville; 8 grandchildren: Justin Kincaid, Jeffery Kincaid, Tessa Brunson, Corey Collins, Austin Collins, Dalton Ernest, Ashlynn Ernest, and Bailee Harville; numerous great-grandchildren; a brother: Cliff Burnett; 2 sisters: Annie Crozier and husband Larry, and Valarie Cherry; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends. John was preceded in death by his parents: Vilon and Winona Burnett, and a sister: Imogene Good. Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, November 12 at the funeral home with Bobby Soules officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, November 11 at the funeral home.
