CAMP COUNTY - ROSE HILL CEMETERY


Services for Aleta Davis, 87, of Pittsburg, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 2008, at Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Pittsburg, with Virgil Faires officiating. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery of Pittsburg.

Mrs. Davis was born December 3, 1920, in Pittsburg, and she passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2008, at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview.

She was a member of Greer Boulevard Church of Christ. Mrs. Davis was an active member of the Meals on Wheels program for many years. She also assisted in reading classes and other programs at the school.

Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, William Aubrey Davis on August 3, 1991; parents, John and Maude Harrel; son, Joe Melvin Davis on July 1, 2004; and sister, Patsy Matthews.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda Ford of Longview; daughter-in-law, Betty Davis of Pittsburg; five grandchildren, Jeff Davis of Mesquite, Keith and Kellie Davis of Mount Pleasant, Rhonda and Kevin Hendricks of Mount Pleasant, Pattie and David Thompson of Diana, and Connie and Walter Abernathy of Marshall; 16 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Calvin Harrel of Boston, Mass., J.W. and Jannett Harrel of Pittsburg, Beauman and Jan Harrel of Vacaville, Calif., and John "Bo" and Mary Harrel of Longview; and two sisters, Edna Redding of Pittsburg, and Ila J. and J.D. Kimbell of Pittsburg.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons.
