CAMP COUNTY - ROSE HILL CEMETERY PITTSBURG – Sherwood Dunavant, 93, died Sunday, August 21, 2011 in Rockwall. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at First Baptist Church in Pittsburg with Bro. Clint Davis and Bro. Steve Parker. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Erman Smith Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Trent Dunavant, Rusty Dunavant, Ryan Dunavant, Mitchell Matkin, Nicholas Dunavant, and Darrell Brown. Honorary Pallbearers are the members of Frank Sexton Masonic Lodge #206 and Gideons Sunday School Class. Mr. Dunavant was born August 8, 1918 in Harlingen to C.S. and Elizabeth Dunavant. He served in the Navy from 1944-1946 during WWII. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Pittsburg for 50 years and a member of the Gideons Sunday School Class. He worked for Southern Pacific Rail Road for 39 years as a locomotive engineer and was a member of the Frank Sexton Masonic Lodge #206, and the Kiwanas. He is survived by spouse, Juanice Dunavant; four sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Glenda Dunavant of Ripley, Miss., Ronnie and Beth Anne Dunavant of Mount Vernon, Dixie and Hope Dunavant of Longview, James and Angie Dunavant of Rockwall; three step-children, Steve and Kimberly Wilhelms of Rockwall, Judy and Darrell Brown of Wichita Falls, John and Tonja Wilhelms of Rockwall; 14 grandchildren, Trent and Tysha Dunavant, Rusty Dunavant, Mitchell Matkin, Ryan Dunavant, Nicholas Dunavant, Paxton Dunavant, Candace and Joe Satina, Jennifer and Dugan Rainey, (step grandchildren) Ryan Wilhelms, BC Wilhelms, McKenna Wilhelms, Elizabeth Brown, Ashley Brown, Jacob Wilhelms; four great-grandchildren, Cade Dunavant, Case Dunavant, Joe Satina, and Graydon Rainey. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rachel Kate Dunavant; two brothers and two sisters.
