CAMP COUNTY - ROSE HILL CEMETERY Evelyn Shrum Hester, 90, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2011. Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday at Pittsburg Church of the Nazarene in her hometown of Pittsburg. Evelyn Hester was a precious gift to all who knew her. She was like a diamond with many different facets. Evelyn was a loving wife and mother who loved her family unconditionally and was always there for them. She loved her Lord Jesus and followed Him from an early age. She was a very private person, yet was known by the many people she touched with her special talents. Mrs. Hester was a minister's wife who loved her husband dearly, and worked tirelessly at his side in the Church of the Nazarene as he served as shepherd to many churches and districts. She was an immaculate homemaker, an excellent entertainer and an accomplished cook. She loved beautiful things and had an impeccable sense for style. Evelyn Hester was the picture of poise and grace - the essence of a true lady. Yet with all of these outward attributes, those who truly knew her knew that within this feminine and beautiful lady was the spirit of a prayer warrior. Evelyn Hester was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. James C. Hester. Survivors: Daughters, Carolyn Nipps and husband, Jim, of England, Ark., Elaine Jowell and husband, Billl, of Fort Worth and Ruth Ann Daugherty and husband, Jerry, of Burleson; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
