A new fence was erected around the cemetery by James and David Echols
and their sons in 2002. Those contributing to the fence included
descendents of Sylvanus Walter Echols and Maria Janie Echols Lumpkin.
It is located on private property, but the owners have allowed the
Echols descendents to maintain the cemetery. The family placed a
Confederate Army footstone for E.P.
The
Cemetery is located about three miles from the Old Harmony Methodist
Church and the Roach community. It is located on private property, but
maintained by the descendents of Sylvanus Walter Echols and Janie Echols
Lumpkin.

of Amanda McKinney and Moses W. Isenhour) died July 30, 1879 in Cass County, Texas
Inscription - "Yet again we have to
meet thee When the days of life has fled, Where in heaven with joy to greet thee, Where
no farewell tear is shed."
2. Mary
Emma Echols (daughter of Elijah and Elizabeth Echols)
born April 10, 1869 in Cass County, Texas died August 10, 1897 Cass County, Texas
Inscription - "Tis hard to break the
tender chord When love has bound the heart."
3. Elijah
Pennington Echols (parents' names unknown) born March 7, 1823, in Georgia died November 19, 1899, in Cass County, Texas
Inscription - none, praying hands only
4. James
C. Echols (son of Elijah and Elizabeth Echols) born April 8, 1879 in Cass County, Texas died April 16, 1902 in Cass
County, Texas
Inscription - "Only crossed the river of death to that beautiful sunnier
land."
Shortly after the birth of a son,
Elizabeth Isenhour Echols died. She was the second wife of Elijah
Pennington Echols. Elijah Pennington served in the Army of the
Confederate States of America in the 18th Regiment, Company B,
of the Texas Infantry. The family added a military footstone.
