Submitted by Sandy Roberts Haskell July 1931 Will LEE Killed It was a sad shock to learn of Mr. Will LEE's sudden death. He was killed Monday by the Sunshine Special at West Spur, Gladewater, at ten o'clock Monday morning. He was walking down the track and by an eye witness seemed to be in deep study, looking down; he was hard of hearing and when he looked up the train was so close he jumped to one side but was struck and body badly mutilated. How sad! Mr. LEE was a good man quiet and peaceful, member of Queen City Baptist church. He had been a hard working man, suffered many losses but was patient and kind sustaining a sweet Christian spirit. He had been for short while employed at saw mill two miles from Gladewater. Spent last week end at home near Cass where his family reside. They all went to the river for the 4th and enjoyed the occasion, he being unusually cheerful and happy leaving home Sunday afternoon to return to his work. He said good bye, waved his last farewell. Dear! Dear! How sudden and how sad. He leaves a dear good wife, four children, Mrs. Don PIERCE, DeBerry; Mrs. R. L. PUGH and Clyde Philpott, Cass (with whom their mother was staying on account of Mr. LEE having to go from the farm to the mill for work) and a son John, an aged mother four brothers and three sisters. Our deepest love and sympathy to each of them. Burial at Queen City cemetery Tuesday afternoon. Service by Rev. NICHOLS of Cass assisted by Revs. W. F. NASH and B. L. OWENS ------------- Article written by Mrs. F. E. LEE In Memory of Will LEE Two months has passed since God called my dear son Will from this old world of sorrow but the same ache remains as though it were but yesterday. I think of you in silence, no one sees me weep when I can help it. Many tears I shed while others are asleep. Although God let us keep you for over 50 years, you were always a joy and a pride to your aged mother. I loved you so and I miss you so much. Often I pause and think of how you died. You could not say goodbye before you closed your eyes--the call was such a sudden shock and I loved you so dearly. You are sadly missed by mother and all of your loved ones. Mrs. F. E. LEE, Sept. 6, 1931 I don't know which newspaper these were in but maybe Atlanta. I have more but will have to send those as I am able Sandy ROBERTS HASKELL
