CASS COUNTY - ALAMANCE BAPTIST CEMETERY Funeral services for William Edgar "Buck" Alexander, 86, of Farmerville will be held 2:00PM Friday Sept. 17, 2010 at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church with Bro. Woody Reeder officiating. Visitation will be Thursday at Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville from 5-8PM and graveside services will be 1:00PM Saturday at Alamance Cemetery near Atlanta, Texas under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home of Farmerville. William Edgar "Buck" Alexander was born August 24, 1924 in Kelsey, Texas to William Lee Alexander and May Day Alexander. He had three sisters: Thelma Ray, Rosalie Bearden and Gladys Ward. One brother Chester "Chic" Alexander and one step brother: Selvin Truitt. He did a lot of jobs, then logging, until the end of 1942, when he joined the Army. In 1943, he was assigned to the 2042 Combat Engineers, attached to the 8th & 9th Air Force. He was a Military Policeman, Firefighter and flew Combat Missions either as a nose gunner, belly gunner, turret gunner or tail gunner on B-17's. In 1946. He returned to Barksdale Air Forc Base, where he served as a Military Policeman until his discharged in 1947. He got a job at International Paper Mill in Bastrop for 38 years. When he left England he brought home a wife Barbara Olive Barton Alexander. He is preceded in death by daughter Stephanie Olson; son William David Alexander; Granddaughter Tina Michelle Wooten/Clark; Three Great Grandsons: Patrick, Dalton and Donald. Survivors include his wife of 64 and ¾ years, Barbara Olive Alexander of Farmerville. 2 Daughters: Beverley Curse of Farmerville & Jennifer Lynn Puckett (Carlton Dan) of Harleton, Texas; 8 Grandchildren: Melissa, Tammy, Vickie, Charles, Teresa, Katrina, Christie and Tracy; 21 Great Grandchildren: Sabra, Adrell, Karissa, Danielle, Raven, Hannah, Cory, Trey, Conner, Kyra, Wendy, Destiny, Katie, William, Julie, Erica, Beau, Cruz, Willie, Candice and Jeremy; 5 Great-great grandchildren: C. J., Stephanie Ann, Braden/Tatum, Jayden and McKenzie; 2 sons-in-law: Harry Olson and Carlton Puckett and 3 very special friends: Felton Polk, Bruce Paradis and Alma Laing. Pallbearers are Charles Cruse, William Wilkerson, Cory Brantley, Trey Brantley, Russell Wimbish, Brian Lutes, Darryl Clark and Bruce Paradis. Honorary pallbearers: Felton Polk, Dan Puckett, Wayne Durman, Eddie Jones and Henry Bradford.
