Linden TX- Funeral services for Winston Earl Kirkland, 83, of Linden will be at 2 p.m. Monday, June 27, 2011 at Linden Church of Christ with Bob Money officiating. Interment will follow in Corinth Cemetery under direction of Reeder-Davis-Schindler Funeral Home, Inc. He will lie in state from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM, Sunday at the funeral home and visitation will be Monday from 12:30 to service time at the church. Mr. Kirkland was born in Cass County to Homer and Ruby Smith Kirkland. He passed away Thursday, June 23, 2011 in a Texarkana hospital. He was an electrician for Alcoa, was a member of Linden Church of Christ, Linden Lions Club, VFW Post 6968, American Legion Post 105, DAV and FRA. He was also retired from the US Navy, having served in WWII, Korea and Viet Nam War. He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Dana Crawford Kirkland of Linden; four sons, Flynn Genovese, Rocci Genovese, Guy Ober and Paul Ober; two daughters, Kristie Wilkinson and Toni Downs; a brother, James Homer Kirkland; a sister, Jo Ophard Hogan; eight grandchildren; one great grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by a son, Winston “Butch” Kirkland and his parents. Memorials may be made to Linden Church of Christ Building Fund; Linden Lions Club or American Legion Post 105.
