CASS COUNTY - ALAMANCE BAPTIST CEMETERY Funeral services for Mr. John Thomas "Doodle" Roan will be held 10:00 A.M. Monday, November 2, 2015 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop with Ron Elkins officiating the services. Interment and committal services will be at 4:00 P.M. Monday, November 2, 2015 at the Alamance Cemetery in Atlanta, Texas under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop, Louisiana. The family will receive friends Sunday, November 1, 2015 beginning at 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop. Mr. John Thomas Roan was born March 6, 1943 in Bastrop, Louisiana to the late J.T. Roan and Rosa Mirabella Roan. He passed away October 30, 2015 at the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana following a brief illness. He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Tina Clark; and a grandson, Brent Markham. John was an devoted member of the First Church of God of Bastrop and a loyal supporter of the church's youth group. He also served as a Sunday School teacher and devotion leader at his residence, The Arbor of Bastrop. Mr. John was also a proud veteran of the United States Navy, having served aboard the U.S.S. Princeton during the Vietnam Conflict, and a retiree of both International Paper Company and Weyerhaeuser Paper Company. Mr. Roan is survived by two daughters, Melissa Durmon and her husband, Wayne and Tammy Calitz, all of Atlanta, Texas; six grandchildren, Sabra Alonzo, Adreal Durmon, Danielle McCoskey, Ravin Moody, Karissa Durmon, and Hannah Wooten; five great-grandchildren, Cruze Alonzo, Stephanie Alonzo, Jayden Durmon, Braddix Durmon, and Elijah Moody. He is also survived by his three brothers, Jerald Roan and his wife, Brenda of Crossett, Arkansas, Joe Roan and his wife, Ann of Bastrop, Louisiana, and Jimmy Roan and his wife, Rose of Crossett, Arkansas; his sister, Joyce Roan of Fayettville, Arkansas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers are Bruce Cook, Brian Culbreath, Jordan Kennedy, Chris Roan, Jomical Roan, Jeff Crise, Chase Roan, and Cody Hines.
