MARION COUNTY
(Pop. 11,457) This county was created and organized in 1860 from Cass and Harrison Counties and named for Francis Marion, Swamp Fox of the American Revolution. County Seat - Jefferson (pop. 2,797). Jefferson is named for Thomas Jefferson, third President of the United States.
