Three miles south of Queen City and ten miles west of the Texas-Arkansas line. Reverend Jess Dodd named the town for Atlanta, Georgia, former home of many early settlers. Established in 1872 when the Texas and Pacific Railroad was being built, it is the principal town of Cass County.
