RITES HELD HERE FOR PIONEER CLAY COUNTY RESIDENT 1937

Friends and relatives paid tribute to Mrs. E. Estelle Carey, 81, pioneer settler of the Thornberry and Friberg communities, at funeral services from Grace Methodist church Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock with Rev. H.A. Morton, pastor, officiating, and Rev. J.H. Snarr of the Friberg Methodist church assisting.

Pallbearers were C.A. Paulson, Robert Levell, Levi Andree, Dr. G.F. Swarts, Steve Blue and Irvin Karrenbrock.

Burial was in Riverside under direction of the Dalton, Hampton & Vaughan Funeral home.

Mrs. Carey, mother of Mrs. A. L. Thornberry of Wichita Falls, died at her home, 1611 Tenth, Tuesday morning. She settled with her husband and daughter in the Friberg community in 1893. At his death in 1901, Carey left a sum of money for the erection of the Friberg Methodist church. Mrs. Carey was a charter member of the church and took an active part in its work.
