Here is a picture of The John H. Meyer Family of Charlie Clay Co., Texas. I
can identify most of these folks but not all. Seated in the center is John Meyer and
his wife Racheal Louise Alls Meyer. Their children surround them to their right
seated should be my Grandmother Ollie Lucy Meyer Stewart with her daughter Francis
Inez Stewart Gould.  Behind her is her husband John Samuel Stewart, to his right is
his brother Robert (BOB) Stewart with his wife Margaret A. Meyer. To Ollie's right
is what I believe to be her youngest sister Eunice L. Meyer McCammon and to her right
is Emma Elizabeth Meyer Doyle. The two boys next to her could be brothers Clarence
E. Meyer and Alexander Meyer. The back row next to Margaret is her brother William D.
Meyer and his wife Ella Duggins. And then to there left should be brother John Henry
Meyer and then his sister Hettie D. Meyers Hadley. There are articles about John
Meyer Log House which still stands what there is of it on his original headright
property just outside of Charlie. It was supposedly the first above ground
house built and lived in the area around 1870's, because most home's were dugouts
to protect people from Indian's .
John Meyer was a original member of The Charlie Cemetery Association Committee. he and most of
his Children are buried there... The house in the picture is said to have had many young and old
of Charlie attending  many a dance and party in it's day Pre 1908 because it is told
that many remember partying at the Meyers Home. Dancing and merriment are said to have
happened there.
