Henry A. Whaley Family

Henry A. Whaley was born in Tennessee on August 24, 1826.  He was the first 
permanent white settler of Clay County, Texas.  He settled in Clay County 
in 1869.  He was accompanied into Clay County by Mrs. Lena Killmartin 
and fifteen or twenty hired men.  
There was an article in the Clay County Leader about him.  
His wife, Amanda M. McMillann Whaley, died on the journey to Clay County, TX.
