The farm of Mabel and Jewell Kilgore Gilbert near Joy in Clay County.

Jewell was the daughter of John Whitfield and Louisa Montalvia Hart Kilgore. They were married August 13, 1901 at Joy. Their sons were Morris, Raymond and Milton. Jewell's mother lived with her at various times; and on the occasion of her 77th birthday in 1930, Jewell put the following article in the newspaper:

ASKS LETTERS FOR MOTHER

Mrs. Jewell Kilgore Gilbert, Joy, Clay Co. TX: I have come to ask a letter shower for my mother, who is 77. She was born at what is now Greenville, TX, moved onto a ranch when 2 years old and lived there, with the exception of two years in Arkansas, until 1889. Her maiden name was Tallie Hart, daughter of Martin D. Hart, at one time County Judge of Hunt County. She is the only one left of the Hart family. She married John W. Kilgore. He died twenty-one years ago. She lives with her children.

After she married, mother attended church at Bethel, five miles south of Greenville. Her children attended the Center Point School. If her relatives or old-time friends or neighbors see this, she would be glad to hear from them. Her address is Mrs. L. M. Kilgore, Joy, Clay County, Texas. Mother is a shut-in and hopes to hear from her relatives and friends.

(NOTE: Louisa Montalvia Hart Kilgore's mother, Mary Ann Green Hart, is buried at Bethel Church Cemetery.)
