A Shower Party
From a clear blue sky Tuesday afternoon, Miss Bula Mae Cooke, bride-to-be, was subjected to a heavy "shower" at the M.A. Eaton residence.  This phenomenon of the elements was sponsored by Mesdames F.F. Green and Arthur and Elmer Eaton.  Those present were:

Misses Beulah Bradley, Dorothy Bear, Sarah Dale, Jimmay Norman, Lumay McGlass, Bennie McGlasson, Sybil Holaday, Cora Neville, Winnie Rice, Erline Overby, Mildred Jasper, Lydia Cook, Mable Edwards, Inez Pellerin, Lulu Johnson, Jessie Chesnutt, Minnie Brown, Ida Hassell, Nellie Bates, Rita Burleson, Belle D. Jones, Carrie Roberson, Orleta Payne, Mary and Vera Cooke; Mesdames Carl and Wayne Barker, R.J. B. Brown, Willie Smith, Sine Royer, Will Pope, W.F. and W.H. Cooke, J.E. and J.T. Gates, W.H. and Glenn Younger, J.H. Firestone, C.O. Taylor, L.C. Kelly, Alvis Fuller, J.C. Dunn, W.E. Washburn, Brad Staggs, W.S. Culwell, Carl Green, F.O. Moore, J.O. Gilliland, P.H. Boddy, Lewis Ikard, F.P.,Percy and Will Neville, M.M. Alexander, J.S. Dickey, Albert Greer, C.K. Brown, B.P. Schwond, A.B. Edwards, May Puckett, Maud Goodman, A.H. Bevering, L.R. and Homer Hamm, , W.L. Mount, C.G. McKinney, M.B. Powell, O.T. Liles, and Louis Kerr.  From out of town:  Misses Annie Alma Squires of Dallas and Gladys Wright of Bellevue; Mesdames Harry Myers of Jolly, Walter Graves of Byers, S.M. Brightwell of Wichita Falls and J.E. Moffet of Marlow, Oklahoma.

As will naturally be inferred, it was a cloud*burst.

Winners in the flower quiz or contest were Mesdames Gilliland and Ikard and theirs was the privilege of disclosing and presenting articles of the precipitation.  These covered a wide range in napery, glass, tin, queens and hardware.

Good constitution.  Young lady "out in it" and subjected to this pour was able to be up and around very next day.

Shower for Miss Cooke

Mrs. M.A. Eaton gave a miscellaneous shower on Tuesday afternoon for Miss Bula Mae Cooke, who is to be married to T.B. Lewis on the 1st.  House decoration throughout were roses arranged in great profusion, and the hostess was assisted by Mrs. F.F. Green and Mrs. Elmer Eaton.  In one corner of the living room was a large floral archway, in the center of which was placed a large heart.  The attention of the company being attracted to the heart, when it suddenly opened and little Miss Evelyn Taylor sprang out and delivered a package to Miss Cooke, the bride-to-be, representing the numerous gifts within the heart.  A flower contest was given and the winners, Mrs. Lewis Ikard and Mrs. J.O. Gilliland were accorded the privilege of assisting the honoree to open the packages and displaying them for the inspection of the guests.  Punch and macaroons were served, and Miss Mary Cooke presided at the punch bowl.  About 70 or 75 guests were present, and the list of gifts in the shower included a large variety of practical articles needed in the home.
