I am looking for any information on the family of George Washington WALKER who was living in Clay County by 1890. He was born 20 Jan 1860 and died of typhoid fever on 7 Oct 1892. He operated a ferry boat across the Red River. The closest town to them was Terral in Oklahoma and Henrietta in Texas. He was taken to his Uncle Joe's farm for burrial in the family cemetery. This farm was referred to as being near the north part of the Big and Little Witchitas and not a short distance from where they lived. Uncle Joe's last name may have been CAMPBELL and he had a lot of cattle and many cow hands working for him. Uncle Joe had 6 or 7 sons and one daughter, the youngest, named Sally. Two of the sons were named Tobe and Frank. There may have been two with the names of John and Charlie. Tobe was married to a woman named Looney and they had two daughters, Della and Josie. George Washington Walker married Laura Francis SHERRILL on 29 Sep 1886. They lived near Sherman when they had their first child, Oscar Bornett(?) Walker born 2 Oct 1887. He had a still born twin. Their second child, Sallie Ann Walker was born in Clay County on 4 Jun 1890. She was originally named Goldie. Their 3rd child Georgie Bell Walker was born 18 Jul 1892. I would be very interested in hearing from anyone with information on this family or in getting suggestions as to where I might continue to look and what resources might be available for this area. Was there a newspaper then that might have carried an obituary, etc? Does anyone know where the north part of the big and little Witchitas might be or have heard of a Campbell family fitting this description? Many thanks, Robert Wacaser Data from Oscar Walker's Bible: George Washington Walker b. 20 January 1860 d. 7 October 1892 Laura Francis Sherril b. 13 March 1866 d. 22 June 1916 Married 29 September 1886 Children: Oscar Bornett - b. 2 Oct 1887 Wife - Erma Bishop - b. 18 May 1902 her mother Addie Alsys - d. 22 Feb 1915 Sallie Ann - b. 4 June 1890 Georgie - b. 18 July 1892 d. 11 July 1900

My family roots are linked to Henrietta Texas and date back to perhaps as early as the mid to late 1800's and beyond. Such names include Barney MCGEE, a Sheriff or deputy sheriff of Clay county sometime between 1900-1940. John Henry SLACK and his wife Leena Ellen Margaret SLACK, long term residents of Henrietta. Did not mean to bore with family details, sorry. I am searching for a ONE-ARMED MAN WHO WAS A SALESMAN FOR THE FULLER BRUSH CO. The man sold his goods in this area sometime between 1925 and 1935 and may have been a resident of Henrietta. I'm sorry I cannot provide a name, I just hope perhaps someone may know of this man. I have managed to find a photograph (about 1930) of this person. I'm considering placement of an ad in the local newspaper with this man's picture in hopes someone might recognize his photo. I believe this individual was my paternal grandfather. It is possible this man was married to my grandmother in Henrietta around this period. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Rick Durham
