Historical Commission

The purpose of this Commission shall be to establish, support and maintain a museum to house, display and preserve articles and evidences of the past history of Crane County and the surrounding territory.  The Crane County Historical Commisssion seeks to obtain, own, and preserve articles of historical interest in order to bring about a better understanding and appreciation of the history and culture of this area.

Created:      February 26, 1887
Organized:  September 3, 1927
Named in honor of William Carey Crane
(1816-1885) a Baptist minister and
President of Baylor University 1863-1885.
