Obituary
CRANE
Hazel J. Blake, 85 of Midland, and formerly of Crane, died on
Saturday, October 2, 2004 in the Manor Park retirement home.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, October
4, 2004 in the Crane County Cemetery with Reverend Tommy Parker
officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of
Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
Hazel was born on November 30, 1918 in DeLeon, Texas. She married
J.L. Blake on July 2, 1965. She had lived in Crane from 1952
until 1998. She had worked for Johnny Alexander's Grocery in
Crane, and had also worked for Phillips Petroleum in Odessa in
the Gas Department. She was also a homemaker, and a member of the
First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Effie
Patterson Gray, and a sister, Edith Carol. She is survived by her
husband, J.L. Blake of Hobbs, NM; four sons, Steve Wilkes and his
wife Kaila of Littleton, Colorado, William Johnson and his wife
Paquita of Midland, Curtis Blake and his wife Debbie of Hobbs,
NM, and Carl Blake and his wife Julia of Midland; two daughters,
Charlotte Skinner and her husband Mike of Texarkana, and Connie
Calobreves, of Midland; 11 grandchildren and 16 great
grandchildren.
