Comments about A History of Freestone County - Its Communities - Its People

Sheriff Ralph Billings: "...Your efforts fill in the gaps that very often exist in standard histories.  We so often only have the opportunity to read the history of the greatest soldier, the greatest battle, the wealthiest family, etc., forgetting that the vast majority of our history was made by common people in an every-day, wearisome existence... your collection of articles, we can now accurately paint a picture in our mind of everyday life for the average person in this day and time ... these were the true "happenings" to our ancestors of this time."

Fred & Patsy Neale are Chairman and Secretary of the Freestone County Historical Commission.
They wrote:"...We are very impressed with the organization and layout of the material.  The index was extensive and useful; however, the reader shouldn't skip browsing the easy to read text.
A researcher of a family member and even if one didn't know the participants, the newspaper excerpts give the reader insights into life in Freestone County at that time.
We particularly enjoyed reading about the many communities in the area.  In fact, we went on a little field trip to search for a site we where interested in."
