FUNERAL SERVICES HELD MONDAY FOR JIM ATCHLEY, 79
Funeral services for James D. Atchley, 79, of Dew were held Monday, December 7, at 2 pm at Lawrence Funeral Chapel. Interment was in Dew Cemetery.
Mr. Atchley died Saturday, December 5, in the Teague City Hospital. He was born March 13, 1891 in Alabama. He moved to this county at the age of 16. He was a farmer.
Rev. Royce Sanders, pastor of the Eighth Avenue Baptist Church, conducted the services.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Emma Atchley of Dew; two sons, Rev. Dwight Atchley of Dew and Sidney Atchley of Corpus Christi; three sisters, Mrs. Eva Harrison of Fairfield, Mrs. Mattie White , of Dew, and Mrs. Elga Laningham of Dallas; eight grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Atchley would have been married 58 years on December 29, 1970.
Pallbearers were Doc Haynie, Jim McKinney, Delmar Hall, Lillard Clark, John Nash and Bob Moore.
Lawrence Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
