1.  LOYD S. NICHOLS was born 1884 in Leon Co., TX.  He married WILLIE KAY SIZEMORE.  She was born 1894 in GA.   He was the son of William Warren Nichols b. 1841 Crawford Co., GA and Patience Mary Ann "Annie Bell" Hatcher born 1846 GA.  (The William Warren Nichols family was in San Augustine Co., TX in 1910 & 1920.)

 

BURIAL: Loyd Nichols and Willie Kay Sizemore Nichols are both buried in the Terrace Cemetery, Garza Co., TX.

MARTIN AND DALE NICHOLS:

 

Dale Bartlett, came to Garza County in May, 1935, to work for the families of Mr. and Mrs. K. Stoker and Mr. and Mrs. Willard Kirkpatrick.  Her home town was Tahoka, Texas, and her parents were Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Bartlett, who later moved to Tulia, Texas.

   

Martin Nichols moved here (Garza) from Dickens County with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. L.S. Nichols, in 1934.  He also worked for Mr. Stoker.  Martin and Dale were married October 19, 1936, and he continued working for Mr. Stoker for a while.  He soon became interested in oil field work which was his occupation thereafter. Martin learned all phases of oil field work and was skilled in drilling with cable tools as well as rotary drilling.

 

This Nichols family lived in  Big Spring, Kermit, Snyder, Paint Rock, Abilene, and Fort Stockton before settling permanently in Post in 1950.

Tidbits from the POST newspaper:  

PHS Class of 1955 had a reunion on Sept 9th 2005.  Naomi Nichols was there with her husband, (listed as Franklin and Naomi Maxey from Corpus Christi.

 

In the long ago section, on Oct 1975...it says that Mr. and Mrs. Martin Nichols was hosted with their 40th wedding anniversary.
