• Letters from ANIER McCARTY (Mrs. Andrew David) SOWELL to her mother MRS. IDA WEATHERFORD McCARTY, 1904 and 1907. Contains names and descriptions of life in Garza County during that time. Submitted by: Rilla Hartsoe
• ED WALKER GIVEN BOND ON SHOOTING CHARGE, May 31, 1925. "Ed Walker of Garza County was held in Lubbock, TX and charged with the shooting of Roy C. Dalton, ranchman, near Southland, March 10th. Walker was to be tried in Lubbock during the August term of the District Court, the cases having been transferred from Garza to Lubbock County."

• Letter from Francis Marion Fitzgerald, Barbers Hill, Chambers Co., TX to his son, Temple S. Fitzgerald, that was working in Post, Texas. Dated May 16, 1912:

  Dear son Temple,
  We received your letter and card in due time and glad to hear that you got there alright Mildred was sure glad to get the card and wanted to know if the house on it was the one here on this map. We are sorry to hear that you don't like the place but hope you will like it better after staying there a while.

  There is no news here of importance we have had two big rains and several small ones since you left nearly every body is planting their corn over I will have to plant two pieces over I have one of old Bucks Brothers planting my corn he may finish saturday but the worms are cutting it about as fast as it comes up.

  Pearlie and her kids got here all right and are here yet Leasy and Myrtle came over last Monday and went back yesterday all rice farmers are busy planting they have hands at work today building Bridge across the canal on the Dayton road Mildred has come in to tell me to write you that she is well and a going to be a good girl all the time and wants to send her some more cards and don't forget her while you are gone

  I will have to close this for want of some thing to write hoping to hear from you again soon with best wishes to you from all
