In 1873, Willow Springs Texas cropped up when the Railroad went through the area.. In 1920 there were 180 people there, but it grew rapidly when oil was discovered in the late 1920's. By the 1940s there were over 2300 people there. In 1932, when a Post Office was built, the name changed to Greggton. It remained as Greggton until about 1960 when it became incorporated into Longview. The name of the cemetery remained Willow Springs, but many people knew it by Wilkerson Cemetery or Greggton Cemetery. The death certificates of those buried here show all 3 cemetery names.
