Cagle, Ben Jr - S 2/c Ben Cagle Jr, son of Mr & Mrs Ben Cagle. Entered the Navy in May, 1945, trained at San Diego. Now in the Pacific on duty.
Cain, Henry F - Cpl Henry F Cain, son of Mr & Mrs V Cain, husband of Dorothy Harper. Entered Army in May, 1943, trained at Ft Warren, Wyo. Served in India and Burma, where now on duty. Holds the Bronze Star.
Cain, Roy L - MOMM 3/c Roy L Cain, son of Mr & Mrs J A Cain, husband of Bessie League Cain. Entered the Navy in 1944, trained at San Diego, Calif. Has served at New Guinea, Morotai, Biak, Leyte, P.I., Admiraltys, where now on duty.
Calk, Earl J Jr - Capt Earl J Calk Jr, son of Mr & Mrs E J Calk, husband of Vivienne Johnson, a graduate of Kilgore College and Texas A & M. Entered the Air Corps in 1941, trained for four years at Kelly Field. Served as navigator on B-29 at Guam. Has Air Medal and Unit Citation, now on duty at Guam.
Calloway, Billy James - Y 3/c Billy James Calloway, son of Mrs Ross Smart, Hooks, Texas, and Mr Bill Calloway of Greggtown, Texas. Attended Pine Tree High School. Entered the Navy in 1944, trained at San Diego. Was hit on the USS Franklin, now on duty in Hawaii.
Calloway, W M Jr - Ens W M Calloway Jr, son of Mr & Mrs W M Calloway Sr, attended Longview HS and Kilgore College. Entered the Naval Air Corps in 1942; trained at Kilgore Jr College, Del Monte, Calif, Norman, Okla, Corpus Christi and Greencove Springs, Fla. Has served with the Atlantic Fleet, but now on duty with the Pacific Fleet.
Cammack, Alvin L - Cpl Alvin L Cammack, son of Mr & Mrs E L Cammack, attended Longview HS and Kilgore College. Entered the Marines in 1942; trained at San Diego and Oceanside, Calif. Has served in the Marshalls and was killed on Saipan July 6, 1944. Awarded the Purple Heart.
Cammack, James M - Lt James M Cammack, son of Mr & Mrs E L Cammack, attended Longview HS. Entered the Air Corps in 1943, trained at Victorville, Calif and Alamogordo, NM. Now on duty at Saipan.
Campbell, Homer B - Pfc Homer B Campbell, son of Mr & Mrs J G Campbell, husband of Mildred Young Campbell. Entered the Paratroops in 1943, trained at Camp Gruber, Okla. Has served in England, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Holland and Germany. Holds CBI, Pres Citation and three Major Battle Stars.
Cannon, Clyde R Jr - CM Clyde R Cannon Jr, son of Mr & Mrs Clyde R Cannon; attended Gladewater HS. Entered the Navy in 1944, trained at San Diego. Now on duty somewhere in the Pacific.

Cardwell, Fred K - Pfc Fred K Cardwell, son of Mr & Mrs Wm C Cardwell and husband of Mary Jo Zuber Cardwell; entered service in 1945. Trained for the Army at Camp Maxey, Texas. Now on duty at Camp Livingston, Ala.
Carlisle, Carmen V - Pfc Carmen V Carlisle, daughter of Mrs R L Carlisle; attended Gladewater HS. Entered the WAAC in 1944; trained at Ft Des Moines, Iowa. Served at Ft Ord, Cal., where she is still on duty awaiting discharge.

Carroll, Bobby L - Cpl Bobby L Carroll, son of Mr & Mrs S J Carroll, attended Sabine HS. Entered Army Air Corps, Sept, 1941. Trained at Sheppard Field, served in India, China, and Burma. Holds CBI with two Stars. Now on duty in Burma.
Carter, Audrey Faye - Cadet Nurse Audrey Faye Carter, daughter of Mr & Mrs M L Carter, attended East Mt HS. Entered the Army Nursing Corps in 1944. Trained at T E Schumpert's Hospital, Shreveport, La and Centenary College. Now on duty at Shumpert's Hospital.
Carter, Emmett Jr - Cpl Emmett Carter Jr, son of Mr & Mrs E Carter and husband of Laurene Virginia Combs Carter, attended Longview HS. Entered the Air Corps in 1943 and became a Radar Mechanic. Commissioned at Boca Raton, Fla. Has served in the Philippines and Australia. Now on duty in the Pacific.

Carter, George E - Sgt George E Carter, husband of the former Gladys Smith, and son of Mr & Mrs M L Carter; attended East Mt HS. Entered the Army Infantry in 1943; trained at Camp Wolters, Texas. Served in New Caledonia, New Zealand, New Guinea and is now on Luzon in the Philippines.
Carter, J C - Pfc J C Carter, son of Mr & Mrs C F Carter, husband of Lucille Alexander. Entered Army in 1944; trained at Camp Adiar, Ore. Served in France, Germany, Belgium, Holland and Czechoslovakia. Holds Inf Combat Badge, Rifleman's Bar. Now on duty in Germany.
Carver, Roy - Pfc Roy Carver, son of Mr & Mrs T R Carver, attended Longview HS. Entered the Marines in August, 1943; trained at San Diego. Has served in the Marshalls, Guam and Okinawa. Now on duty at Guam.
Casario, Daniel J - Cpl Daniel J Casario, husband of Lucille Parsons Casario. Entered the service in May, 1940; trained in the branch of Army Communications at Ft Monroe, Va. Has served in New Caledonia, New Hebrides and the Philippines. Now on duty in the Philippines.
Casey, Raymond F - Pvt Raymond F Casey, son of Mr B H Casey. Entered the Infantry in September, 1942; trained at Camp Roberts, Calif. Contracted Meningitis and died of that disease while still in service on July 19, 1943.
Castleberry, David H - Y David H Castleberry, attended Texas Tech, Lubbock. Entered the Navy in 1944. Trained at San Diego. Served with Naval Intelligence in Honolulu for 18 months.
Castleberry, James H - Cpl James H Castleberry, son of Mr & Mrs H J Castleberry. Entered the Army in 1942, trained at Sheppard Field, Texas, Orlando, Fla, Sedalia Air Field, Warrensburg, Mo. Graduated in Glider Mec. Course at Alliance, Nev. Now has an Honorable Discharge.
Castleberry, Joe P - Lt (JG) Joe P Castleberry, son of Mr & Mrs H J Castleberry, husband of Mary Francis Scott Castleberry. Entered the service in 1942, trained at Athens, Ga, and Pensacola, Fla. Has served eight and one-half months in the Aleutians. Given Com. from Com. Gen. of the Aleutians Sector. Now on duty in Seattle, Wash

Caughron, Fred T - Lt Fred T Caughron, brother of Mrs Pearl C Price, Gladewater; attended Oklahoma U. Entered the Army Inf (83rd Div) in 1940. Trained at Ft Sam Houston. Served in England, France, killed in action in France July 16, 1944.
Causey, Joe H - Sgt Joe H Causey, son of Mrs Mary Smith and husband of Nadine Young Causey; entered the Army in England in 1944, trained at Camp Claiborne, La. Served in England, France and Belgium. Holds two Battle Stars. Now somewhere in the Pacific.
 
 Cavett, Douglas - Cpl Douglas Cavett, son of Mr & Mrs Will Cavett and husband of Emily Buelah Pope Cavett, entered the Air Corps in 1942. Trained at Pendleton Field, Sioux City, Iowa, Newport, RI. Has served in England. Now on duty at Harlingen, Texas.
Chafin, Bob Jr - MS/Sgt Bob Chafin Jr, son of Mr & Mrs M R Chafin and husband of Pat Gay Chafin, entered the Marines as an airplane mechanic in 1942. Trained at San Diego, Cal. Served in the South Pacific. Now on duty at California.
Chafin, Bert - S 1/c Bert Chafin, son of Mr & Mrs M R Chafin and husband of Myrtle Putman Chafin, entered the Navy in 1944. Trained at San Diego, Cal. and Corpus Christi, Texas, where he is still on duty.
Chamberlain, James C - 2nd Lt James C Chamberlain, son of Mrs J R McClain and husband of Carolyn Cantor Chamberlain, attended Longview HS and Kilgore College. Entered the Air Corps in 1943, trained in Arizona, California and Texas. Missing in Action May 7, 1944 over Germany after having served in England and Germany.
Chamberlain, Tommy H - Cpl Tommy H Chamberlain, son of Mrs J R McClain, attended Longview HS. Entered the Marines in 1943, served at Guadalcanal, Guam, New Caledonia, Okinawa and the Solomons. Holds Pres. Citation with Bronze Star, two Purple Hearts, and four Bronze Battle Stars.
Chaney, Jack T - SF 1/c Jack T Chaney, son of Mr & Mrs Fred Hack of Kilgore and husband of Loretta Farrow Chaney, attended Kilgore HS. Entered the Seabees in 1943, trained at Camp Peary, Va. Has served at New Guinea, Dutch East Indies and is not stationed at Hollandia.
Chapman, Leroy - Lt Leroy Chapman, son of Mr & Mrs Lee Chapman, and husband of Dorothy Wilson, entered Air Corps in 1941. Trained at Rankin Aero. Academy, Tulare, Cal., Gardner Field, Ttfa, Cal., Chandler, Ariz. Killed in crash at Advanced Army Air Base, Miss., May 3, 1942.
Charles, Celba L - Sgt Celba L Charles, son of Mr & Mrs H L Charles, attended Union Grove and Gladewater HS. Entered the Air Corps in 1943. Trained at Chanute Field, Ill and Columbia, SC. Has served in England, Belgium and Germany. Holds expert Riflemans Medal, Good Conduct Medal. Now on duty in England.
Charles, Kenneth F - Sgt Kenneth F Charles, son of Mr & Mrs H L Charles of Gladewater, attended Union Grove HS. Entered the Airborne Division in 1943. Trained at Ft Lewis, Wash and Bend, Oregon. Has served in England, Belgium, Germany and France, where he is still on duty.
 Chavis, Vurgus L - Pfc Vurgus L Chavis, husband of Evelyn Baccus Chavis. Entered the Army QM Corps in 1943; trained at Camp Lee, Va, Marysville and Pittsburg, Calif. Has served in Australia, New Britain, New Guinea and the Philippines, where now on duty.
Cheek, Jose T - Sgt Jose T Cheek, son of Mr & Mrs Frank Cheek, volunteered for the Air Corps in 1941. Trained at Patterson Field, NJ and Fair Field, Ohio. Has served in England and France 31 months. Has Pres. Unit Citation for 9th Air Force, Good Conduct Medal and three Battle Stars.
Chemoke, John T - 1st Lt John J Chemoke, son of Mr & Mrs F C Chemoke, husband of Lucylle Renwick, graduate of Kilgore HS, attended Kilgore College and A & M at Bryan. Entered Army Air Corps in Sept, 1942, trained at Hondo. Served in England, now on duty at Sioux Falls, SD. Has DFC, AM with four Clusters, ETO with five Stars.
Cherrington, Chester A - Lt Chester A Cherrington, son of Mr & Mrs C A Cherrington. Entered the Air Corps in 1943, trained at Phoenix, Ariz, Santa Anna, Calif, Pecos, Texas and Stockton, Calif. Was commissioned as a Liberator Pilot. Was killed August 19, 1944.
Chevalier, Joe C - MM 3/c Joe C Chevalier, son of Mr & Mrs John Chevalier, husband of Oteque Vessell Chevalier; attended Gladewater HS. Entered the Seabees, att. to 5th Div. Marines in 1943, trained in Virginia, N Carolina and California. Served in Hawaii and Guam. Has an Hon. Discharg. Received Dynamite injury.
Chevalier, Levell L - 2nd Lt Levell L Chevalier, son of Mr & Mrs John Chevalier, husband of Vivian Trussell Chevalier, attended Gladewater HS. Entered the Combat Eng. Corps in 1942; trained at Camp Claiborne, La. Has served in North Africa, England and Italy. Holds Legion of Merit, 4th Highest Army Decoration.
Childers, Gordon C - Pfc Gordon C Childers, son of Mr & Mrs R C Childers, attended Judson HS. Entered the Inf in 1943, trained at Camp Roberts, Calif. Served in New Caledonia, New Hebrides and Okinawa. Has Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal and Battle Stars.
(His great niece advises us that he received 2 Purple Hearts)

Childers, Verl O - Pvt Verl O Childers, parents are Mr & Mrs R C Childers, attended Judson HS. Entered the Anti-Aircraft in 1945. Trained at El Paso, Ft Bliss. Now on duty at Ft Bliss.  (His granddaughter advises us that he also served in Germany)
Chism, James S - Cpl James C Chism, son of Mr & Mrs J F Chism, graduated from Kilgore HS. Entered Air Corps in March, 1943, trained at Sioux Falls, SD. Served in England, now on duty at Frankfort, Germany.
Choice, Tully E Jr - S 2/c Tully E Choice Jr, son of Mr & Mrs T E Choice, attended Sabine School; entered the Navy in 1944, trained at San Diego, Cal. Now on duty in Pacific.
Christian, Earl S - RDM 3/c Earl S Christian, son of Mr & Mrs A W Christian and husband of Bennie Lee Bruner Christian; attended Longview HS. Entered Navy in 1944. Has served at Saipan, Marshalls, Carolines, Hawaii and Okinawa. Now on duty on the transport USS Bergen.
Claibourne, William H - Cpl William H Claibourne, son of Mr & Mrs W H Claibourne, graduate of Whorton HS. Entered the Army Air Corps, 1942; trained at Camp Wolters, Texas. Served in England and still on duty there.
Clamp, Robert C - T/Sgt Robert C Clamp, son of Mr & Mrs Grady Clamp, attended Judson Grove HS. Entered the Air Corps Ord. in 1942. Trained at Ft Francis E Warren, Wyo, Pendleton Field, Ore., and Santa Maria, Cal. Has served in India and China. In the service group that works on turrets and bomb sights on B-29s.
Clark, Albert L - Capt Albert L Clark, son of Mr & Mrs A F Clark; attended Longview HS. Entered the Marine Air Corps in 1941. Trained at Corpus Christi, Texas and El Toro, Cal. Returned to the US after completing 48 Missions. Holds DFC. Now on duty in the Tokyo area as a group commander.

Clark, James H - M/Sgt James H Clark, son of Mr & Mrs G W Clark and husband of Mavis Raymer, entered the Air Corps in 1941. Trained at Buckner Field, Colo, Meridian, Miss, and McDill Field, Fla. Has served in England, Belgium, and France, where he is still on duty. Holds Pres. Citation and six Bronze Stars.
 
 Clark, William A Jr - Lt Wm A (Lonnie) Clark Jr, son of Mrs Levon Clark, husband of Ernestine Wilson Clark. Entered the Air Corps in 1943. Trained at Hemet, Calif, Phoenix, Ariz, Pecos, Texas and Tallahasse, Fla. Served in North Africa, Italy, and France. Air Medal for destroying Convoy on last Mission. Killed in action August 28, 1944.
Claxton, Clyde S - Cpl Clyde S Claxton, son of Mr & Mrs C C Claxton, attended Longview HS. Entered the Army in England in 1942; trained at camp Roberts, Cal. Has served in the South Pacific for the past two years and is still on duty there.

Cobb, Forest - Pfc Forest Cobb, brother of Mrs Artie E Hudgins, attended Marshall HS. Entered the Army in 1943, trained at Camp Shelby, Miss and in Oklahoma. Has served in the Philippines. Has several Medals.
Cobb, Talmage - Pfc Talmage Cobb, brother of Mrs Artie E Hudgins. Entered the Army in 1944, trained at Camp Wolters and Camp Fannin, Texas. Has served in Belgium, Germany and Australia. On duty in Germany with the 8th Army.
