Addison, Carl I. 
  	
DALLAS -- Carl I. "Carl" Addison went to be with the Lord 
on January 2, 2007, at the age of 95. Carl was full of 
life and a blessing to his family and friends throughout 
his entire life. Born November 8, 1911, in Oak Cliff, 
Texas, he was a resident of Dallas until he moved to 
Longview, Texas in 1933 and then back to Dallas in August, 
2005. His father, W.I. Addison, and grandfather were 
partners in one of the earliest fire and casualty insurance 
companies in Dallas. Carl was married to his loving wife, 
Margaret Addison, for more than 60 years, who preceded him 
in 1994. He is survived by his three sons, Carl I. Addison 
Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia, William C. Addison of Saratoga, 
California, and Randolph D. Addison of Dallas, Texas; his 
daughter-in-laws, Melodie Nelson Addison and Nancy Addison; 
his wonderful grandchildren, Sean Addison, Ryan Addison, 
Christopher Addison, Michael Addison, David Addison, Meghan 
Addison, Dallas Addison, and Dr. Jason Addison; two beautiful 
"great"-granddaughters, Claire Addison and Mary Kate Addison; 
his sister, Margaret English; and many wonderful nieces, 
nephews, and friends. Carl, a longtime resident of Longview, 
was a religious, civic, social, and fraternal leader in the 
city. A member of the First Christian Church of Longview, he 
loved singing and led the singing in the "Fellowship Class" 
for many years. He later joined Prestonwood Baptist Church 
after returning to Dallas. He served as a lieutenant in the 
U.S. Navy during World War II, and was in the Philippines 
during the war. He continued the family's tradition in the 
insurance business by establishing an insurance agency in 
Longview, where he had extended life insurance experience, 
including membership in the Texas Leaders Roundtable, and he 
received numerous other insurance industry and association 
awards. Carl was a civic leader, being a past president and 
state director of the Civitans Club and other civic 
associations. He was one of the founders of the "Round-Up 
Club," one of the first recreational facilities built in East 
Texas to serve the high school youth. His business career 
expanded outside the insurance industry, as he was also in 
the oil and gas business, the founder of Grace Hill Mausoleum 
in Longview, and other businesses. Carl's love for life and 
people was evident in all of his pursuits and activities. He 
attributed his long, healthy and vibrant life to two things, 
"prayer and positive attitude," and because of that, he was a 
blessing to his family and many friends. A memorial service 
will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 5, 2007, at the Chapel 
at Prestonwood Baptist Church.
