Alexander, Vernon Lee KILGORE -- Services for Vernon Lee Alexander, 60, of Kilgore, will be 2 p.m. Thursday, October 12, 2006, at the Forest Home Baptist Church, with the Reverend David Hampton officiating. Interment will follow in the Danville Cemetery. Mr. Alexander passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2006, in Longview. Mr. Alexander was born December 21, 1945, in Dallas, Texas, to Cecil and Alliene Alexander, who preceded him in death. Vernon was a graduate of W.W. Samuels High School. He also attended the University of Texas at Arlington. After moving to Kilgore, Mr. Alexander went into to business as owner and operator of Kilgore Tire Co. for more than 30 years. Vernon enjoyed racing and being around cars, motorcycles and four wheelers. Mr. Alexander will be remembered as being dedicated to his family, very giving, a hard worker, opinionated and strong with a soft heart for others in need. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary Alexander of Kilgore; two daughters and son-in-law, Debbie and Tim Martin of Longview, and Gayla Carroll of Kilgore; two sisters, Joyce Leach and Maxine Bonner, both of Dallas; five grandchildren, Shelby Duran, Summer Carroll, Troy Duran, Alex Carroll, and Colin Martin; as well as many other loving family and friends.
