Andrews, Bessie A funeral ceremony for Bessie Andrews, 86, of Longview, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 1, 2007, at the chapel of Welch Funeral Home, 4619 Judson Road, with Mr. Thomas Hogland officiating. Burial will be in Memory Park Cemetery. Mrs. Andrews passed away on Thursday, August 30, 2007, at a local nursing home. Mrs. Andrews was born May 17, 1921, in Hallsville, to Fred Louis and Ida Dorsey Schaffer. She graduated from Hallsville High School, where she was a member of the basketball team. She was a member of Alpine Church Of Christ. She retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers Of America. She was also a Licensed Vocational Nurse working in home health. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold Andrews; twin sister, Dessie Schaffer; and brother-in-law, C.W. Talley. Left to cherish her memory are her son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Joy Andrews of Longview; grandsons, Jay Andrews of Longview, and James Andrews of Denton; sister, Myrtle Talley of Longview; niece and spouse, Lynda and Charlie Whalen of Longview; and great- nephew and spouse, Jason and Ginger West of Longview. The family extends a very special thank you to the staff at Summer Meadows Nursing Home and Heart'sWay Hospice for the care extended to Mrs. Andrews during her final days.
