Barnes, Marcus Randall A memorial service for Marcus Randall Barnes, 79, of Longview, formerly of Kilgore, will be 2 p.m. Monday, March 20, 2006, at First Presbyterian Church in Kilgore, with the Rev. William J. Ingersoll officiating. Mr. Barnes passed away Thursday at his home in Longview. Marcus was born June 6, 1926, in Mexia, Texas, to S.B. and Freda Barnes. He attended Kemper Military Academy in Missouri, and graduated from Longview High School in 1943. After high school, he attended Kilgore College. He was a pilot and colonel in the Civil Air Patrol for more than 40 years and was a Texas Wing Commander for many years. Mr. Barnes was on the board of trustees at Kilgore Junior College in 1961. He was a Rotarian for 51 years with perfect attendance and the owner and operator of the Federal Machine Supply Company in Kilgore for many years. He is survived by daughters, Cynthia Barnes Haynes of Sevierville, Tenn., and Millicent Barnes of Quinlan, Texas; six grandchildren, David Scott Nelson of Tyler, Texas, Eric Barnes, Meredith Barnes and Kevin Barnes, all of El Paso, Texas, and Katey and Kelcy Steffen of Arlington, Texas; and two great-grandchildren, Savannah and Bethany Nelson of Tyler, Texas.
