Wednesday January 2, 1924 John Bass, Well Known Local Citizen dead John Bass, 48 years of age, proprietor of the Elk's hotel at Longview Junction died Monday evening at 10 o'clock at his hotel, where he made his home. Mr Bass had been ill only a few days with pneumonia, which proved fatal because of his having been inill health for a number of years. Mr Bass was a member of the Order of Railway Conductors, and in addition to the Elk hotel property, owned considerable other property in Longview. He is survived by a brother, Sam Bass, T. & P. conductor and one sister, Mrs. Pat /Rembert. Funeral services were held today from the home of Pat Rembert, with the services conducted by Revs. Robert M. Hall of the First Presbyterian church and F. E. Luker of the Kelly Memorial Methodist church.
