Tuesday May 4, 1926 John Bevis Died Today at Home Here Was Prominent in Church and Masonic Circles in Longview John W. Bevis, 38 years old, prominent in church and fraternal circles in Longview and admired by a large circle of acquaintances, died this morning at 1:35 o'clock of pneumonia. Mr Bevis became ill Sunday, April 25th, and a few days thereafter his condition became critical. Every effort to aid him in recovery was given by devoted friends and the doctors and nurses who attended him. Mr Bevis is survived by his widow and five children, Lilly Mary, Katy Ruth, Jack Lewis, Lorraine and Phillis. John Bevis was an employe of the Kelly Plow company of this city and was highly esteemed by his fellow employes and by his employers. As a Mason, Mr Bevis had been highly honored for the good works he had done in that order. At the time of his death, he was secretary of Longview Chapter, Roy Arch Masons No. 177. He had been worshipful Master of Longview Lodge No. 104, A.F. & A. M and High Priest of Longview Chapter Royal Arch Masons. He was also a faithful member of the First Christian church and of the Loyal Men's bible class. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the home on Teague street with interment in Grace Hill cemetery. The services will be in charge of the local lodge of Masons.
