Brasher, Walter KILGORE -- Services for Walter Brasher, 82, of Kilgore, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2006, at Forest Home Baptist Church with the Rev. Buddy Duggins officiating. Full military honors will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Mr. Brasher was born May 4, 1924, in Spur, Texas. He attended Spur public schools before serving our country in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II. Mr. Brasher was a farmer before he started his career in carpentry. He moved to Kilgore in 1967 and retired from the Kilgore Independent School District in 1986. Mr. Brasher was a member of Forest Home Baptist Church and the Disabled American Veterans. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Virlula Brasher of Kilgore; son and daughter-in-law, Leslie and Jane DeBrock of Seattle, Washington; siblings, Prentice Brasher of Carthage, Texas, Onita Ramsey of Runge, Texas, Emma Jean Cook of Longview, Texas, Wayne Brasher of Odessa, Texas, and Floyd Brasher of Porterville, California; one grandson, John Austin DeBrock of Seattle; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Brasher. The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home Monday evening, June 26, 2006, between 6-7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Forest Home Baptist Church.
