Miss Brooks was born August 28, 1987, in Vicksburg, Miss., and she died August 10, 2006, in Longview. In 2005, she graduated from Pine Tree High School, where she was a Globe Scholar and a member of Pine Tree Precision Drill Team, Z Club, the National Honor Society and Who's Who in American High Schools. She attended Kilgore College as a freshman, where she was a member of Phi Theta Kappa and a President's List scholar. She had attended Greggton Methodist Church, where she had been active in GYM Project. Survivors include her parents, John A. Brooks Jr., vice president of human resources at LeTourneau Inc., and Lynda Brooks, English instructor at Kilgore College; one sister, Carley Cordell of Lewisville; and one brother, Cole Brooks of Longview; paternal grandmother, Dorothy Brooks of Longview; maternal grandmother, Jean Gann of Vicksburg, Miss.; uncles, Kenny Brooks of Longview, Don Gann of Clinton, Miss., and Donald Murray of Shreveport, La.; aunts, Dottie Murray of Shreveport, La., and Melinda Gann of Clinton; cousins, Kelli and Michael Gann, Donna Voight, Chip Murray and DeAnn Jordan; and nephew, Cadyn Cordell. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, John A. Brooks Sr.; and maternal grandfather, Albert R. Gann. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. today, August 13, 2006, at Rader Funeral Home Chapel, 1617 Judson Road.
