Brooks, Wilson O'Neal Services for Wilson O'Neal Brooks will be 10 a.m. Saturday, September 30, 2006, in the chapel of Rader Funeral Home, with the Reverend Jonathan Jehorek and Dr. W.D. O'Neal officiating. Burial will follow in Jordan Valley Cemetery. Mr. Brooks passed away Wednesday morning, September 27, 2006, at a local nursing home. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Wilson was born June 9, 1917, in Long Branch, Texas, to Eli and Anna Brooks. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, with combat duty in the South Pacific during World War II. Mr. Brooks taught math for more than 30 years in both Oklahoma and Tyler. Mr. Brooks was involved in many community activities and volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels, Longview Community Ministries, the East Texas Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, and many others. He and his wife, Lady, were also longtime, faithful members of First Presbyterian Church in Longview. He was preceded in death in 2001 by his wife of 53 years, Lady Brooks; and two sisters, Zelma King and Lottie Thompson. Survivors include his daughter, Arnetta Burns of Dallas; son, Roderick Brooks of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one sister, Wylma Durley; grandson, Dwight Burns and his wife, Ursula; two granddaughters, Stacy Burns- Haliburtin and her husband, Gary, and Ursula Brooks; great-grandchildren, Chloe Brooks-Kistler, Hailee Brooks-Kistler, Ari Burns, Lex Burns, and Kara Burns; and several nieces and nephews.
