Monday December 22, 1924 I. L. Brown Dead at Home in This City Sunday A.M. Funeral Held Today With Burak in Grace Hill Cemetery I. L. Brown, 72 years old, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs M.D. Bowen, at 7:20 Sunday morning. he leaves a wife and one daughter, Mrs M. D. Bowen. He was a faithful member of the Christian Church of this place and one of the pioneers of Longview. The funeral was held today at the home on East Cotton street at 2 p.m., with the burial in Grace Hill cemetery. Services were conducted by Rev. F. E. Luker and Rev. Mr Dickinson. ------- Saturday January 24, 1925 Obituary I. L. Brown was born June 28, 1847 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama, was one of a family of thirteen children and survived all except one sister, Mrs. Jane Fife, who resides now at Brooksville, Miss. He was a Confederate veteran, served in the latter part of the war in the 60's and was married to Miss Maggie Cooke at Memphis, Tenn. on May 15, 1875; moved to Texas in the fall of 1874 and located six miles east of Henderson. In 1890 he moved to Gregg county and had lived in and around Longview since that time. To them were born three children, two boys and one girl. The boys died while under the ages of 10 years. The daughter, Mrs M. D. Bowen, resides on East Cotton street with whom Mr and Mrs Brown had lived for the past four years. He died Sunday morning, December 21st at 7:20 a.m. He was a member of the First Christian church of Longview.
