October 7, 1909 Taken In The Bloom Of Life On last Saturday morning, about 5 o'clock, Leonard Burke, one of Longview's brightest and most worthy men, stricken at home after an illness of eight weeks. During that time he made a manly and patient fight for life and it was thought that he had passed the greatest danger. He won out over the fever but he took cold and it settled in his lungs, causing pneumonia to set in and in a short time, to the great surprise of his family and friends, he passed away. Leonard was born in Water Valley, Miss., September 15, 1888. Moved to Longview with his parents Mr and Mrs J F Burke in 1893. He died October 2, 1909, having just passed his twenty-first birthday. He worked as the Owl Drug store.
