Boatner, Nila Allen KILGORE -- Private family services for Mrs. Nila Avanell Allen Boatner, 84, of Longview, will be at the Lakeview Mausoleum with the Rev. Father Stephen J. Butts officiating. Entombment will follow services. Nila and her twin sister were born on March 25, 1922, to Josie Lee Doty Murphy and James Benton Allen in Dekalb, Texas. She passed away at her home on Friday, January 12, 2007. Mrs. Boatner married Fred Leroy Boatner in 1937, and they were married for 65 years until his death in 2002. They operated the Frederick-Nila Photographic Studio in Longview for many years and subsequently owned the Frederick-Nila Art Gallery in Longview until their retirement. Nila won many awards for her artwork in oils and pastels, and in the '90s, she was a regular contributor to the Longview News-Journal with her articles "I Remember." She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and one sister, Oniece Allen Stewart of Longview. She is survived by her son, Dr. Lynn Allen Boatner and his wife, Martha Alice Goodwin Boatner, of Oak Ridge; three grandsons, Mark Boatner and his wife, Ellen, and her daughter, Annah Barish, of Oak Ridge, Ivan Boatner and his wife, Beth, and their daughter, Margaret Thompson Boatner, of Knoxville, Tenn., and Philip Boatner of Oak Ridge, Tenn. She is also survived by three nieces, Jo Stewart of Longview, Marsha Stewart Taylor of Longview and Nila Nell Foss of Martinez, Ga.
