Brock, Kenneth Algin Kenneth Algin Brock, 82, joined the love of his life, Vernice J. Brock, in the presence of our Lord on Tuesday morning, November 28, 2006. K.A. remains deeply loved and will be remembered for his great sense of humor and kind heart. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, December 2, 2006, at Lakeview Funeral Home. He was born May 13, 1924, in Electra, Texas, as one of three children to Willie Algin Brock and Maggie Belle Brock. He was a loving husband of 64 years to V.J., who preceded him in death earlier this year; and proud father to Kenneth Brock Jr. of Kilgore, and Patricia J. Brock of Dallas. K.A. was a veteran of World War II, where he was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army and enjoyed a distinguished 60-year career in oil field services that included tenures along the Gulf Coast and in the Middle East. His professional achievements include two U.S. patents for drilling technology for which he was a guest lecturer at Kilgore College and Texas A&M University. He was active in organizations such as the Society of Petroleum Engineers and Toastmaster's International. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Vandon Brock. Along with his children, he is survived by brother, Elroy Brock of Kilgore; daughter-in-law, Sheri Brock; five grandchildren, Kenneth Brock III, Kellie Starkey, Kari Toon, Amber McGovney, and Steven Green; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
