Blackmon, Jimmie E. GLADEWATER - Services for Jimmie E. Blackmon, 80, of Gladewater, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2007, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel, with Dennis Abernathy officiating. Burial will be in Gladewater Memorial Park. Mr. Blackmon was born October 7, 1926, in Tullos, Louisiana, to Robert Eugene Bryant and Gertrude Blackmon, who preceded him in death. He entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 10, 2007. Mr. Blackmon was retired from Burk Royalty Co., having served 35 years. He, in addition, was a lifetime fan of the Gladewater Bears and the Gladewater Weldon Bumblebees; former president of the Little League Baseball Association; a leader in the Boy Scouts Troup No. 194 for many years; Scout Master for 22 years; and retired volunteer fireman for the Gladewater Fire Department. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Eugene Bryant and Gertrude Blackmon; three brothers; and one sister. Mr. Blackmon is survived by his wife, Dorothy L. Blackmon of Gladewater; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmie De-wayne and Myrna Blackmon of Gilmer and Rickie and Karen Blackmon of Gladewater; two daughters and son-in-law, Rhonda and John T. Murray of Gladewater and Nena Fogle of White Oak; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Blackmon of Gladewater; sister, Mary Kay of Pensacola, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Justin Fogle, Christopher Murray, Zack Fogle, Brian Blackmon, Joel Blackmon and Park Maddox. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Bert Sharp, Herb Money, Noah Blackmon and Carl Weeks.
