Butler, Betty J. Betty Butler of Longview passed on to be with her Heavenly Father Saturday night, July 21, 2007 after a very long illness. The transition was peaceful and attended by her children, Camille Bond of Austin, Jane Morrison of Austin, Peggy Hellberg of Arlington and Paul Butler of Lubbock. She will be sorely missed by the many, many people who loved her, but all are relieved by the knowledge that she is now and forever more in her spiritual home. Betty was born Betty Jean Duckett in Pittsburg, Texas on October 11, 1930 to Frank Duckett and Lila Elizabeth Reynolds. She attended Tyler Business School, where she graduated in 1948. Betty had several professional positions throughout her life, but her primary and highest calling in life was as a wonderful, loving mother to her four children and a devoted grandmother to Danielle Austin of Dallas, Clay Magnino of Denver, Rhett Butler of Lubbock and Alan Bond of Austin. Betty's life was recently blessed with two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Ian Austin. Betty is preceded in death by John A. Butler, her husband of 42 years, and the prospect of their reunion greatly comforted her during her last days. She is survived by one sister and two brothers and their spouses, Rachel Duckett Sorrels of Bullard (Billy Sorrels), Frank Duckett of Dallas (Mary Ellen [Mew] Wright) and Robert Duckett of Albuquerque (Janet Duckett). All of their aunts and uncles gave the children comfort and support during Betty's long illness. Betty is also preceded in death by her older sister, Barbara Duckett Bell. The children would also like to extend to Barbara's husband, Robert Bell of Manahattan Beach, CA., thanks for his daily love and support in the care of their mother. Betty's children received visitors on Tuesday evening at Welch Funeral Home, Longview, TX, between 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2007. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at Elmira Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Longview. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery in Pittsburg (Camp County), Texas.
