Benton, Raminel   	
  	
Funeral services for Raminel Benton, 89, of Longview, will be 2:30 p.m. 
Saturday, November 24, 2007, at Growing Valley Baptist Church, with the 
Rev. C.E. Faulks officiating. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery. 
Arrangements are under the direction of Bigham Mortuary. Mr. Benton died 
November 17, 2007, in Longview.

Mr. Benton was born March 18, 1918, in Carthage, to Clem Benton and Viola 
Beecham, deceased. He attended school in Longview. He served in the U.S. 
Navy and was honorably discharged. He worked many years and later retired 
from Leilawood Florist. Raminel was a very active member of Growing Valley 
Baptist Church, serving on the usher board and trustee board.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Boyd Benton; parents; 
siblings; son, Raymond Benton; daughter, Shirley Snoddy; and grandson, 
Rah'Mar Langford.

He is survived by his son, Darrell Benton; daughters, Margaret Bennett, 
Gussie Armstrong and Yolanda Benton; stepdaughter and son, Phyllis and 
Eric Waelder; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a host of 
other relatives.

Visitation will be 6-7 p.m. today, November 23, 2007, at Growing Valley 
Baptist Church.
