Campbell, Brinkley C. Services for Brinkley C. Campbell, 97, of White Oak, will be 10 a.m. Friday, September 22, 2006, at the White Oak Baptist Church, under the direction of Rader Funeral Home. The Reverend Wade Duck and the Reverend James Kirkland will be officiating. Burial will be in the Old White Oak Cemetery by his beloved wife, Marie. Mr. Campbell died as the result of a fire that destroyed his home on September 18, 2006. Brinkley was born May 18, 1909, in Mountain View, Arkansas. He married Retha Marie Harper on December 7, 1932, and they moved to East Texas in 1936. He began work for Atlantic Refining Co. in 1937, and retired from that company in 1974, which was then known as ARCO. He loved to reminisce about growing up in Mountain View, Arkansas, and days as a roustabout and pumper with ARCO. He was a "people person," never happier than when visiting with friends and family to talk about the "old days." He loved helping others and enjoyed a long and useful life. He was proud of being the oldest member of the White Oak Baptist Church, and one of the oldest in White Oak. He took pride in his age and his service. His beloved wife died in 1985, and he continued living alone, helped by his many neighbors and friends. His son, Teddy Jack Campbell, died of a heart attack on November 7, 2002, which devastated him, but he turned all his love to his two grandsons and their families, which were his pride and joy. He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Janette Campbell of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; grandson, Bobby Campbell, his wife, Tina, and their two children, Weston Jack and Wyatt Jack of Killeen; grandson, Rodney Campbell, his wife, Patty, and their two children, Nicole and Augusta Jack of Queen Creek, Arizona; and many other relatives and friends. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday evening, September 21, 2006, at Rader Funeral Home. Published in the Longview News-Journal on 9/20/2006.
