April 13, 1911 Another Veteran Passes Away All that was mortal of J. E. Chilcoat, aged about 70 years, a noble good man, and soldier of the Confederate army was laid to rest in the beautiful Grace Hill cemetery this afternoon. He had been in feeble condition for sometime and, while his death was not expected, it was a sad shock to his many Longview friends. While surrounded by loved ones at the home of his son, Robert, he peacefully closed his eyes to death yesterday at 1 p.m. The deceased was a native of Tennessee, served as Justice of the Peace of Longview precinct for two years and made a faithful and effecient officer. A wife and two children survive him, Robert Chilcoat of this city, and Mrs T. M. Lane, of Ft. Worth, and to them we extend our sincere sympathy in their bereavement.
